Policy support
Nordregio takes an active role in shaping the agenda for thematic and policy debates on Nordic regional policies of the future. One of our main tasks is to contribute to the interpretation and adaptation of European and international policy in the Nordic context.
Among other things, this means that Nordregio works to interpret and apply important key terms like "territorial cohesion" to the Nordic political perspective. Further, we work to apply new international planning concepts like "resilient cities" and "sustainable urban metabolism" in the Nordic planning practice.
Nordregio is also tasked with identifying and disseminating Nordic best practices in a European context. One example of an important and highly prioritized issue is climate change adaptation. In our research, we investigate the regional consequences of energy policy. We also see the development of regional green growth strategies and the identification and promotion of good regional practices in the field as a central task.
