NCM Arctic Co-operation Program (Arktiskt Samarbetsprogram)Nordic Council of Ministers has been actively involved in cooperation in relation to the Arctic for more than a decade, an activity which started as a program in 1996, and has been expanding leading to the approval in 2008 of the present Arctic Cooperation Program 2009-2011.
NCM Arctic Co-operation Program (Arktiskt Samarbetsprogram) The program is the platform for cooperation in relation to the Arctic, encompassing questions in relation to Arctic Council, EU, the Arctic Window of Opportunities embedded in the Northern Dimension, as well as with cooperation activities including the Arctic neighbors of the Nordic Countries. These activities are supported through a yearly budget of 8 million DKK, administrated by Nordregio. By delegating the administration to Nordregio the intension has been to strengthen the possible synergy between the projects by keeping the administration and the professional overview within the same administrative unit. The program is at the same time a supplement to the other Nordic strategies and programs involving issues in relation to the Arctic, such as Strategies for Sustainable Development, Environmental Action Program, and the cooperation program with Russia.
